ABOUT ME
My name is Rachel Alvarez-Robinson and I am a Cuban and Jewish (or "Jewban", as I like to call myself) performer originally from West Palm Beach, Florida. I am proud to come from maybe the only family that eats Ropa Vieja at Rosh Hashanah dinner!
I began my training at Dreyfoos School of the Arts and later continued my arts education at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee, where I earned a BFA in Musical Theatre with an emphasis in Songwriting. Along with performing and songwriting, I discovered a passion for directing and developing new work. During my time at BoCo, I revived New Ground Theatre Company, where I served as the lead producer and artistic director for ten new productions. Safe to say college kept me very busy!
Right after graduation, I spent three months in Maine working at Maine State Music Theatre, and then packed my bags and moved to the big city! For the past year, I have been pounding the pavement auditioning, teaching Pilates at Jetset Modern Pilates in NoHo, and working at the cutest baby clothing store on the Upper West Side. In my free time, I love relaxing on the couch with an unconventional salty snack (blue cheese-stuffed olives are my favorite) strumming my guitar, or diving into a good novel. I draw a lot of inspiration from female singer-songwriters, especially Gracie Abrams, Joni Mitchell and Adrienne Lenker. I'm also a devoted fan of the reality TV show Survivor and have watched every season. Oh! And I have a serious fear of enclosed water slides.
